Location: Largo Febo 2, Navona/Pantheon area, Rome Italy

Hotel Raphael Rome Italy

Description: The Hotel Raphael Rome, is in the heart of historical Rome close to the vibrant Piazza Navona. The hotel has a following and is well-known for its ivied facade and interior architectural.
The location is very central and some would argue that you can't get more central than this. The Navona area exudes charm through its picturesque labyrinth of narrow twisting streets and its mix of antique and fashionable shopping streets.

The Hotel is literally only a stroll away from the most famous of Rome's historic attractions: St Peters Basilica, Castel Sant' Angelo, Piazza Navona, the Pantheon, Campo de' Fiori, Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps (Piazza di Spagna), and the Jewish Synagogue. The Hotel Raphael is itself a museum of art: paintings, lithographs, sculptures, antiquarian artifacts a valuable collection of Picasso ceramics and Mayan art !

Hotel Raphael Rome

All hotel rooms come standard with oak finishing, elegant furnishings and air-conditioning. Mod cons include BOSE Digital Sound System, CD and DVD, Sky Entertainment TV, free ADSL and WIFI on request. All the bathrooms have a private double shower and are made of Carrara statuary marble. The hotel also has its own fitness center.
The roof top terrace has a panoramic view over the city of Rome where you can also treat yourself to fine Italian cuisine.

RomanLife 2 cents: Simply put: Charm, elegance and superior service in the center of Rome does not come cheap but the advantages are huge. I can't over emphasize how location in Rome can effect your holiday.

Review of Hotel Raphael Rome Italy: truly the only hotel to stay at while in Rome!!

We wanted a well placed hotel within walking distance of all the major attractions in Rome. The Hotel Raphael Rome Italy is in a great location so it is pricey but you are right in the heart of the city and you can pretty much walk everywhere etc. It's very close Piazza Navona and there are loads of different places to eat and drink. The locales in the side streets leading to the square are cheaper and still excellent. The hotel itself has a beautiful terrace with stunning views but it is expensive.

We enjoyed the hotel and found the staff to be helpful and friendly. We arrived to find that we'd been upgraded to a suite at no extra cost which was a lovely surprise. The suite had two bathrooms, air conditioning, a large plasma screen, and seating area including nice touches like fresh sparking water daily and mini cakes each afternoon. If you want to be well placed in Rome then Hotel Raphael Rome Italy is a great hotel. It isn't cheap but we would recommend it.

The Hotel Raphael Rome Italy is truly the only hotel to stay at while in Rome. My husband and I traveled to Italy for our honeymoon and chose the Hotel Raphael based on Rome hotel reviews from the Internet. We couldn't have been happier with our choice!

As it was our honeymoon they upgraded us for free to an executive suite. The room surpassed all expectations. LCD TV, marble shower with double shower heads, marble bath, incredibly comfortable bed with down comforter. It was great to retreat to the hotel after a long day of walking around Rome. The hotel is within walking distance of all the historic sites of Rome. The only taxi we took was to get to the hotel when we arrived and to return to Fiumicino airport when we departed. It is right up from Piazza Navona, where there is great people watching and an array of cafes for meals. But you can also stay and have all your meals at the Hotel Raphael's fabulous rooftop terrace restaurant. Delicious food and breath taking views. The starter of spinach with garlic and hot peppers was the best spinach I've had in my entire life, and my husband just the spaghetti carbonara. I could go on and on, but let me just say this, if you choose the Hotel Raphael Rome for your next trip to Rome you will not be disappointed!

Excellent location in Rome! There may be no better location than the Piazza Navona area in Rome, plus the hotel is on a quiet street. All the most famous Rome attractions are within short walking distance. Tons of Roman restaurants and charming squares nearby.

I found the bed soft and comfortable, it sagged slightly to the middle, but the sheets and pillows were great. lighting was fine in both bedroom and bathroom. Bathroom was clean but had a badly chipped bathtub. and the shower had very hot water if desired and good water pressure. Towels were soft and clean. Free Bulgari toiletries; the kind you want to take home. The room and entire hotel were very clean. There was air conditioning in the room but we did’t use it.

We reserved one of the least expensive rooms in the hotel and did not really have enough space for 2 to unpack all our items. Some rooms on the hotel web site look amazing, not ours. Although clean, it felt very old and needed updating. I am 34 and this hotel is not my style, perhaps more appropriate for those twice my age. There was only a little noise from outside of the room (probably very common if in a good location of Rome). The room could also be made pitch black during the day.

Break was 25 Euros per person but we never ate at the hotel. There was free wired internet in the hotel room which was fast. There are also 2 computers for guests in the lobby for a fee and wireless in the lobby with your own computer for a charge. TV had little channel selections but a few English stations. Much better than most other hotels in Italy with 400 stations and maybe 2 in English.

The staff were very pleasant and the service good.
Tips: there are a couple of rooms in the hotel that are smaller than the others that may be had for a lower price. The main value of the Hotel Raphael is the location but I think there are better hotels in the area to be found.

We thought breakfast was included in our rather pricey 300 euro rate (hard to imagine it wouldn't be). The fact that they charged 26 Euros per person for a breakfast which included neither omelettes or even champagne turned our positive experience into a negative one. We didn't realize the price until we checked out (not posted anywhere but shame on us for not asking). Up to this point we had a positive experience. The hotel is in a fabulous location of Rome, our room was nicely furnished /decorated with high quality linens and the staff were sufficiently helpful. All in all the Hotel Raphael Rome Italy is a good, albeit expensive, place to stay. Just don't have breakfast here.

A small hotel covered with ivy right behind the Piazza Navona. Rooms are luxurious, and particularly the suite. The roof top restaurant is a nice way to start the day, and you are only a few steps from the piazza Navona. The location is the top draw card at the Raphael. Stepping out of your hotel into the historic center of Rome is breathtaking.

The hotel rooms are small as is often the case in Rome Italy and Europe. We stayed in a deluxe suite, there was no separate living and sleeping areas, but was a large L-shaped room. The bed was comfortable and the 50 inch TV might appeal to some. There were two large windows that looked out upon the piazza, but this might be a drawback for light sleepers during the noisy peak tourist season. In this case, request a room on a higher floor towards the back side of the hotel.

The bathroom was very nice, all marble that included a separate tub and shower. The Bulgari toiletries were a luxurious touch. We did not try the breakfast which at 25 Euros seemed a bit much, neither did we eat in the hotel restaurants.

Raphael Hotel Rome

The Hotel Raphael Rome Italy is worth every single cent, divine from start to finish. The hotel is practically on top of Piazza Navona. It has a gorgeous ivy facade with a beautiful reception area - decorated in art works. The staff were helpful from the start and the suite we stayed in was also wonderful. Electronically controlled curtains, spacious television area, double shower, Bulgari toiletries, crisp clean linen, with nice touches like daily deserts, water, etc. The hotel food is divine and the roof top restaurant is the most romantic place at night. The limo service to Fiumicino airport was also worth every penny. The Raphael hotel is walking distance to every tourist attraction in Rome. No complaints, we have stayed in several other hotels in Rome and would only return to the Raphael hotel Rome Italy.

We stayed three nights at the Raphael Hotel Rome Italy over New Years and had a wonderful time. Great location in historic Rome, walking distance to all Rome hot spots and attractions. We were also lucky enough to get an upgrade to an executive room and found the staff generally very friendly and helpful. We skipped the expensive breakfast and rather found plenty of lovely cafe options in the neighborhood. We enjoyed an excellent New Years dinner at the Hosteria del Anima right in front of the hotel and found the most fantastic and friendly little bar 50m from the hotel, called Rafatia - definitely worth a visit or three.

It's easy to get to the hotel from Fiumicino airport via the train (Leonardo Express) to Termini station and then a taxi - don't waste money on the hotel's expensive shuttle. Overall had a great stay and would certainly recommend the Hotel Raphael Rome Italy!

-- Hotel Raphael Rome Italy --

My wife and I just stayed at the Raphael hotel Rome Italy for three nights. A charming little hotel with helpful staff. The location in central historic Rome is perfect - 1 minute walk to the piazza Navona, 10 minutes to a tourist bus stop for a Rome sightseeing tour and probably a 10 or 15 minutes walk to Vatican City. In fact you can pretty much walk to any of the major Rome tourist sites.

The room was small but you don't go to Rome to sit in your room do you?! There was a bit of street noise which meant we kept our window closed but we were on the first floor, so maybe higher up it isn't so bad. The roof terrace is fantastic - the glass of wine and watching the sun set over St. Peters was unforgettable. Only one real iffy, was the cost of breakfast at 26 Euros each rather skip it and go around the corner (literally) to one of the many local Roman cafes and have an espresso and a croissant and watch the world and enjoy the Roman culture.

Travel tip for first-time visitors to Rome: Save time and money on a trip to the coliseum - honestly, you will thank me! Rather approach the coliseum from the direction of central Rome walking down the via Fori Imperiali towards the Colosseum with the Roman forum on your right. About halfway down on the right is small square opposite the largo Corrado Ricci. Go here and you will come to an entrance gate to the forum. There is a ticket booth from which you can buy tickets to the Roman coliseum and the palatine and no queue. Buy your tickets here then go to the coliseum where you can join the pre-paid queue and walk past the very long queue outside the Colosseum.

-- Hotel Raphael Rome Italy --

We spent a long weekend at the Raphael Hotel Rome Italy at the end of July 2008.

The location, only few steps from Piazza Navona and if you come by car, they provide you with a temporary pass so that you can enter the ZTL gates and park, otherwise forbidden to non residents. Our room was clean and modern, perhaps a little too small for two, but the large bathroom compensated. It was equipped with luxurious vanity sets from Bulgari and even two showers. The beds (2 single) were remote-operated and you could separately lift the lower or the upper part: very nice feeling after a long day strolling around Rome. The staff were friendly and helpful, the roof terrace is a gem and the common areas are cozy and elegant

In our room there was no chance to operate AC which is vital in the hot Roman summer. They explained that the system was too old and would be renewed soon, but unfortunately for the time being we could only have it on (ice-cold full fan) or off. The mini bar was very expensive (10€ for a beer) and the room was not well screened from the outside noise. We left the Raphael hotel Rome Italy with mixed feelings: all in all we enjoyed our stay in Rome and at the hotel, but it could have been improved with little effort.

We loved the Raphael Hotel Rome Italy and cannot understand some of the negative hotel reviews. The location is just off the Piazza Navona and within easy walking distance of all the major Rome sites. The hotel has lots of character, although an upgrade (if possible) is required as the standard rooms can be on the small side although still adequate. Lovely views of St Peters from the rooftop terrace but the choice for breakfast was fairly limited, but the quality and service was good.

For us the hotel breakfast was preferable rather than waiting for the local cafes to open as we like an early start to avoid crowds at Rome main tourist sites. We also dined at the hotel’s rooftop restaurant and thought the service and food were excellent. Unfortunately on one particular night the best tables (with views of St Peters) were reserved for a private party. The Concierge made good recommendations for some smaller local Roman restaurants serving traditional cuisine. Our favorite was L’Angoletto. We would definitely stay at the Raphael Hotel Rome Italy again.

-- Hotel Raphael Rome Italy --

We come to Rome regularly for work reasons and have stayed at many hotels in Rome. The Raphael's main selling point is the location, certainly the rooms are smaller than other hotels in Rome - a city known for small hotel rooms and expensive hotels. They have renovated the 3rd floor rooms and added things like: blackout curtains, flat screen TVs and WiFi (not free so I used the DSL which is). They seem to have made the bathrooms bigger however at the expense of the room size. We found our room to be too small for two people staying for one week.

The cleaning service was a little slow, I waited 2 days for housekeeping to bring another laundry bag. Plus it took repeated emails and calls to get the concierge to book me some museum tickets I required. The concierge didn't have many good ideas of what to do in Rome that is off the beaten track. They seem more bothered about selling tickets for expensive Rome bus tours (for which they probably get a commission).

I couldn't decide between the Raphael Hotel Rome Italy and the higher rated Hotel Sofitel in Rome. I made the mistake of booking Hotel Sofitel for a few nights. When I finally stumbled across Hotel Raphael in our explorations, we checked out of Hotel Sofitel and into Hotel Raphael for the reminder of our Rome trip. The location of Hotel Raphael is perfect. The staff are friendly and helpful, the room is small (just the basic double) and I wish I had booked one of the larger rooms earlier to begin with, but there were none available. Even though the hotel room was on the small side, the overall experience of the hotel was just what I wanted - boutique and in a great location. You could walk to everything and the evenings were wonderfully vibrant in that area. I definitely want to go back to Raphael Hotel Rome Italy again.

-- Hotel Raphael Rome Italy --

We stayed at the Hotel Raphael during our five day trip to Rome. The location was excellent and we were within walking distance of everything we wanted to see in Rome. The room was clean and diligently maintained, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom had all great amenities. The staff were extremely helpful and went that extra distance to answer your questions or concerns. Dining at the roof top terrace was a delightful experience between the food service atmosphere and view. Being on the roof after a day of walking around Rome through crowds of tourists felt like entering an oasis. The view at sunset was amazing.

The hotel was expensive, but worth it I feel, for what will probably be our first and only trip to Rome. If you don't want to pay for first class service, go elsewhere.

We recently stayed at the Hotel Raphael Rome Italy as I was getting married nearby. The hotel was in a super location, within easy walking distance of the main Rome tourist sights plus lots of gorgeous bars and restaurants in the vicinity.

I loved the unique boutique feel of the hotel, from the Picasso pottery to the designer toiletries. It has an individual feel about it, and the staff were so helpful. Our bed was incredibly comfy and there was surprisingly little noise from outside (amazing for Rome!) obviously good insulation. Breakfast was fantastic - pancakes and maple syrup! We hadn't told the hotel that we were getting married, but they found out (I guess wearing a wedding dress in reception was a giveaway), and when we got back from the ceremony we discovered a bottle of champagne on ice with two glasses in our room - such a sweet touch. We had drinks on the roof terrace, and the perfect setting with a beautiful view across Rome as the sun set. I would definitely stay at the Raphael Hotel in Rome without a doubt. It's pricey, but really worth it.

-- Hotel Raphael Rome Italy --

We just returned from Rome where we held our wedding reception at the Hotel Raphael on it's fabulous roof terrace. From the minute we contacted the hotel they could not have been more helpful or given a better reception. All our friends had a fantastic time and they commented on not just the amazing location - watching the sunset over the Vatican was truly special - but also on the quality of the food and wine, and the superb staff for whom nothing was too much trouble.

Our room was huge and very comfortable, with 2 bathrooms, and a bottle of champagne waiting - perhaps only for couples getting married but it shows their attention to detail. All this only a stone's throw away from Piazza Navona. A really perfect place to stay as the surrounding streets are packed with interesting places to shop eat and drink. Thank you once again to all at the Raphael Hotel I'm sure we'll be back in the coming years on the 1st September!
