Review of Hotel Cortina Rome Italy: “It was newly renovated, clean, stylish, comfortable and wonderful one-bedroom apartment...”
We stayed in an apartment belonging to the hotel. It was newly renovated, clean, stylish, comfortable and wonderful one-bedroom apartment called the "Milano". It included a two-burner smooth-top range, a small fridge, microwave oven, and all plates, glassware and utensils. The apartment was on the second floor and serviced by an elevator (lift). The rate for the apartment was great value with a flat weekly rate. The hotel offers a linen service every third day. We saved money by eating a couple of meals in our apartment with food which we bought at the grocery store a minutes walk away.
There was also satellite TV with CNN, BBC, and Sky News on a wall-mounted flat-screen. The apartment did not offer internet service, however, there is an internet kiosk next door offering 30 minutes for 1.50 Euro.
The bathroom was also fully-stocked with amenities, the towels were nice and thick, and the towel-warmer was a nice feature. We had no problems with availability of hot water either. Angelo and his staff were helpful and gracious and in addition, Angelo gave me some great recommendations with regards to restaurants, money changing services, and shops in the area. The location was close to dining, shopping, and public transportation. Everything we needed was within easy walking distance and less than five minutes walk to the main "Termini" train and bus station.
Included was breakfast at the hotel, which was good, it provided what you would expect at most European hotels: rolls, cereals, pastries, cheese, sliced deli meats, juice, coffee, and tea. The entrance to the Hotel Cortina Rome looks a little shop worn, but don't let the entrance lower your first impression of the hotel. Buildings in Rome are very old so this is a feature of many properties. We booked hotel shuttles to and from the airport, It may have cost a few Euro more than public transportation, but it was efficient and hassle free. If you stay at Hotel Cortina Rome, you should be pleased with your choice

Stayed at the Hotel Cortina Rome for four nights with some friends. The location is great and you can easily walk to Termini station from the Via Nazionale street. The first two nights we stayed at the hotel's apartment, a great apartment, and the last two nights we stayed in the hotel. The hotel room was a good size, and also a nice size bathroom. The room had a very nice wooden floor.
The most extraordinary character of the hotel was the staff, very professional, and went out of their way to help us with everything. On the final day of our stay in Rome they left breakfast out for us since we had been out all night, and needed some food before the trip home. We didn't ask for this, it was just something they did to be nice. I would definitely stay at the Hotel Cortina again!
• Liked — Friendly staff, location, good price
• Disliked — Nothing

We stayed at the Hotel Cortina Rome for our last 2 nights in Rome. We chose the hotel because we wanted to stay close to Termini. Instead of paying 40 Euros for a taxi to Fiumicino Airport we walked from the hotel to Termini station, with our cases on wheels, and bought a ticket on the Leonardo Express to the airport for 11 Euros. A great way to squeeze the very last drop out of our Italian experience.
The hotel is small, about 15 rooms, and decorated in an old fashioned "old world" way, lovely. We had a room looking out towards the front. There were road works going on, but the room was quiet. Rooms were small, but hotel room sizes in Rome are generally small. There is a breakfast room is small, only about 5 tables so sometimes you have to wait for a vacant table. The Hotel Cortina Rome was a very convenient place to stay, the major sights of Rome we were a 10 - 15 minute walk away. We would stay here again for the convenience, although we might choose somewhere else for more space if staying for longer.

The Cortina hotel has a good location for sightseeing in Rome. Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, Piazza Navona, and the Spanish Steps are within walking distance, and it is very near to the metro and public bus services. We stayed in room #7 which faces busy Via Nazionale, however the double glazed windows kept the street noise out and we slept well.
Our hotel room was a little larger than other rooms we saw. The staff was friendly, helpful, and professional and housekeeping was at a higher standard than we observed in some other hotels in Rome The sheets were changed frequently during our six-night stay. Breakfast was good and served in a pleasant room with a nice atmosphere. One act that endeared us to the Hotel Cortina is that when, suffering from jet lag, we awakened after 11:00 a.m. we found breakfast waiting for us even though breakfast hours are between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.
Our rate was 172 Euros ($268) a night.

Review of the Hotel Cortina Rome Italy: “We really enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Cortina...”
-- Hotel Cortina Rome Italy--
The hotel is within walking distance of every major tourist site in Rome. Other than the Vatican city and St Peters, you can walk just about anywhere in 15-20 minutes. There is a subway stop (Repubblica Metro) about 2 blocks up the street, and this takes you right in front of the Vatican. We took this to Vatican city and walked back to our Hotel without any problem.
It is also only a short walk from the Termini train station, handy if you arrive or depart by train. If you don't get lost like we did, it is only a 5-10 minute walk to Via Nazionale. We had no noise problems during our stay, other Cortina hotel reviews have mentioned hearing noise from the pub below, but we didn't notice this at all.
We found the staff very polite! One morning we awoke late and didn't make it for breakfast, we were planning to head out somewhere and pick something up, but on our way out they asked us if we would like some breakfast. They brought the breakfast items back without hesitation. The breakfast was very good by European standards cereals, yogurt, cold meats, fruit, coffee, tea, cheese, bread, and pastries.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Cortina Rome and will definitely stay here when we return to Rome in the future.
As a family of 6 spent we spent 2 nights in Rome as I was running the Rome Marathon. We have 4 children under eight and our concern was finding a hotel that was close to the Colosseum (the race started there) as we didn't’t want to have to rely on public transportation. The hotel is about a 20 minute walk to the Colosseum so we ended up driving.
The hotel itself is very small, and the breakfast struggles to accommodate all, so get up early for breakfast. Mr. Angelo is very nice and I can see tries hard to be helpful.

This was my second visit to Rome, on my first trip our hotel location wasn't great so that was a big factor in choosing Hotel Cortina. The location is ideal, on the busy via Nazionale and within walking distance to of most of the sights within Rome, and very close to a Metro Station, plus several buses serve the area.
The hotel is on the 1st floor of a building. From the moment we arrived the staff were lovely to us, they went out of their way to help. On our first night we had a room at the front of the hotel, very comfortable but the traffic noise kept us awake. We mentioned this to the staff the following morning and were immediately moved to a different room at the back of the building no questions!
Both hotel rooms were lovely, spacious and spotlessly clean. Management even left us a complementary bag of chocolates when we moved rooms. Breakfast was included in the room rate and was surprisingly good, with a wide range of foods and staff to ensure that there was plenty of everything. Including loads of very good Italian coffee. Right next to Hotel Cortina is a nice Irish Bar where we were able to have a relaxing pint in the evening. My wife and myself were extremely pleased with Hotel Cortina Rome and will highly recommend it to our friends.

Review of Hotel Cortina Rome Italy: “We wouldn't hesitate to stay at the Hotel Cortina again...”

We booked the apartment of the hotel Cortina for the Christmas period 2008 for 4 people. The perfect choice, big and beautiful, it consisted of 2 separated bedrooms each with a private bathroom. The kitchen and the living room were also perfect! We really enjoyed our stay in the apartment. Angelo was very helpful and too polite. The breakfast was good - the hotel is only 20 meters from the apartment. Location is perfect for walking around Rome, we didn't have to use Rome public transport. I fully recommend the apartment. There is a standard price for a taxi of 40 euros from Fiumicino Airport.

After checking hotel reviews for Hotel Cortina Rome we chose to stay here. We reserved a triple room for 7 nights. A few weeks before leaving Australia, we were invited to stay in the hotel's apartment for the same price. Wow! It's just around the corner with two bedrooms/two bathrooms, full kitchen, beautifully furnished, air-con, double glazing (very quiet), and a lift. Breakfast was included and is in the hotel just a few steps around the corner. There is an internet cafe right next to the apartment and a couple of supermarkets a few minutes walk away. Roman Restaurants are abound and although we ate at the Irish pub downstairs on our first night, we did better at the Rome restaurants. All the staff were exceptionally helpful, especially Angelo and Florian - they couldn't do enough to assist. We wouldn't hesitate to stay at the Hotel Cortina again. It is centrally located for all Rome sightseeing. Only one negative - we found the king size bed in the apartment a bit saggy.

What really makes the Hotel Cortina Rome is the staff, without a doubt the nicest people. I stayed here with my mother and 2 older ladies, and needless to say they had a million questions and needed assistance regularly. Florian and Angelo were always at ready and in addition to helping them, I needed help as well. They even went as far as helping arrange our Vatican tour, and helped me with travel advice to Sorrento, and reserving the countless taxis that we needed. Bravo guys and thank you so much! The hotel itself is a small personal hotel which was a pleasure from the hustle and bustle of the streets in Rome. It was totally sound proof except for the church bells next door (not a complaint but rather a bonus). We actually returned to the Cortina hotel after our Sorrento excursion. They were gracious enough to let us leave our extra bags, and on our return placed them in our rooms. All the rooms were spotless with fresh linen, and ample space.
My advice: If you are expecting rich décor and ornate furnishing, don’t book here, if you want a good value Rome hotel, great staff, clean rooms, and a great location then the Hotel Cortina Rome is the place.

We first stayed at the Hotel Cortina Rome in Nov 2006 after having been referred by Hotel Aberdeen. We enjoyed the experience so much and found the service so good, that it was easy to book again in Oct 2007. We stayed in both the Hotel and the hotel's apartment and were comfortable both times. The Apartment was fantastic for the 4 of us, (women), and it was great to have a living room and kitchen, along with the two bathrooms. The Apartment was exactly like the web photos, we were very happy to stay there and felt very secure.
Breakfast was plentiful and tasty. Mauro the hotel driver was waiting for us upon arrival at Fiumicino Airport, he was very pleasant and friendly, and gave us a tour of Rome on the way to the Hotel. We loved the location of the hotel, so close to Termini and there was an Internet point downstairs, and a grocery store nearby, as well as some great Italian and Chinese restaurants and pubs. We used the taxi to get to the major Rome tourist sites, and between 4 sharing a cab our daily cost for cabs was about 2 Euros each way. We cannot say enough about the Staff, it's more like staying with friends, than cold foreign strangers. We would definitely stay there again, for endless reasons.

Review of Hotel Cortina Rome Italy: “the staff is exceptional, willing to help with directions, recommendations, reservations, transportation...”
-- Hotel Cortina Rome Italy--
After a lot of internet research and reading Rome hotel reviews, I booked Hotel Cortina, based on reviews, location and price. Even after all the research, I wasn't sure what to expect. Hotel Cortina Rome exceeded my expectations, a well taken care of property, rooms are very clean. The metro is close by and the staff is exceptional, willing to help with directions, recommendations, reservations, transportation, basically whatever you need.
We stayed for 3 days in Rome then went to Sorrento for 4 days, and then returned to Hotel Cortina for our last evening. We each had a large bag and carry-on and didn't want to travel with so much luggage so we asked if we could leave some luggage at the hotel while we were in Sorrento. They were so kind and kept the bags for us, very pleasant and accommodating. The elevator is small, that is the only negative I experienced (but I think all the elevators in Rome are small). I would definitely stay at the Hotel Cortina Rome without any hesitation!

We were referred to the Hotel Cortina by the nearby hotel Aberdeen which was fully booked. We stayed for two non-consecutive nights (we did a two day, one night exploration south of Rome). We stayed in a triplet room one night and the wonderful apartment the second night. 165 Euros for the room and 180 Euros for the apartment, the apartment is well worth the extra cost! The apartment has two twin beds in one room and a king size bed in the other bedroom, plus two complete bathrooms.
Service at the Cortina was outstanding. They called our Italian tour company numerous times as we were a little nervous about the late pick up. They also kept our bags for us over night and transferred them to the apartment around the corner. Due to an accident on the freeway, we returned to Rome after 11 PM, yet office staff was very courteous about taking us to the apartment and giving us keys. Then, the cutest young Italian man in a suit drove us to Fiumicino airport the next day and we arrived in only 20 minutes. This car service to Fiumicino airport is only slightly more than the cost of a taxi plus you have the pleasure of a gorgeous driver! When we return to the Eternal City (I threw my coin into the Trevi Fountain) we will stay at the apartment of the Hotel Cortina! Ciao!

We just returned from our fantastic trip to Europe. Rome was our last stop and we were quite worn out when we arrived. Luckily we had a great experience at the Cortina Hotel. We rented the apartment for the first two nights and it was wonderful. Very nicely furnished with modern updates and so forth. Unfortunately, there was a construction noise in the morning beginning about 8:00 A.M. (the adjacent apartment was being refurbished) We complained and they called the owner of the apartment who promised to begin later, but next day promptly at 8:00 A.M. they started drilling again!
Why this long story, because when we complained again, they took an ample amount of money off our third night's stay. I wasn't expecting this, but did appreciate their willingness to please!
I recommend the apartment for a group of people traveling. A great deal for the price! Only 5 to 10 minute walk from the train station and metro stop. It is just off a busy street yet quiet!
