Rome trains & transport Q & A

Jenna asked: What's the best way to get to Fiumicino Airport from Rome Center and how much are the Rome trains and taxis?

Marcus from Roman Life Rome Italy says:

The Leonardo Express (one of the Rome trains) is the most reliable Rome transport option. It has a non-stop connection with Termini Railway Station from Fiumicino Airport. The journey takes about 30 minutes and the price is 11€.

Rome trains leave every half hour from 5:52Am to 10:52Pm from Rome Termini Station to Fiumicino Airport (also known as Leonardo Da Vinci Airport and also known as Rome International Airport - just to confuse you!)
Which do you recommend for our honeymoon and why?"

There is another Rome train that departs from Ostiense train station (close to the Aventine area by the large Pyramid) and travels to Fiumicino Airport, called the FMI Metropolitan train. The price is 5 Euros but unless you are staying close by it will most likely not be convenient. It also has a lot of stops along the way.

Taxis charge 40 Euros to Fiumicino airport from within the city walls, including luggage - it's a standard fee.

You can find more info about Rome trains, Rome public transportation, Fiumicino Airport and how to get there at my page about Rome international airport.

I need help to travel from Fiumicino airport (Rome Italy) to my hotel at Piazza dell' Esquilino?

Its my 1st time in Rome and i have no idea how to go about on the trains or buses, so any help is greatly appreciated!

Virgo says: Take the train leonardo express, that is direct from the airport to termini station, it usually arrives on platform 25-29, a little bit far from the others platforms, but this is the right exit. the one near this platforms!when you exit from the station cross the road and go straight on to the esquilino market (it's a white big building 5 minutes on foot and you'll arrive).

Phlirt says: I would take the Leonardo Express train from the airport directly to the Termini (train station) right in the heart of town. The fastest and most reliable non-stop shuttle between central Rome and Fiumicino Airport.
The service is run with new carriages designed to the needs of our customers, equipped with services such as air conditioning, automatic sound system and large baggage spaces. Price is 9 or 10 euro. Your hotel is within easy walking distance of Termini. You can get the Rome trains (Leonardo) right after you come out from customs, just follow the signs for the "Leonardo Express".
