Review of Hotel Splendide Royal Rome Italy: “it was our honeymoon and we were upgraded to a suite!”
I decided that if I only had one night in Rome, I would make it a good one. There wasn't much time to interact with staff of Hotel Splendide Royal Rome but I found them very professional - if a little stiff. It's a pity that breakfast finished so promptly at 10.30 Am, not very Irish, but then we were in Rome.
I may be a little biased since it was our honeymoon and we were upgraded to a suite! ;-)
Liked The luxury of everything about the place, down to the toiletries (in glass bottles)
Disliked the staff were a bit stiff and distant, but I guess that comes with the formality of the place

My daughter and I spent 5 nights in Rome at the Hotel Splendide Royal Rome and can honestly say that it was the best hotel we have stayed at! Our hotel room (and we had an upgrade) was just so beautiful. It was massive with a walk-in wardrobe and a separate dressing area plus a lovely marble bathroom with two sinks. The bedroom walls were covered with expensive fabric in rich, jewel colors and everything was coordinated. The hotel's service was faultless. One evening my daughter was feeling a little under the weather so we requested some plain toast from Room Service (not an item on the amazing menu) it arrived, beautifully presented and without charge. Nothing was too much trouble. The location cannot be beaten as it is only a few minutes away from the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain and in walking distance from all the main Rome attractions. Our room had a beautiful view of the Borghese gardens but surely nothing in Rome can top the view from the hotels Mirabelle Restaurant! Thank you Hotel Splendide Royal Rome for providing such luxurious rooms and making us feel so welcome.

Upon arrival at the Hotel Splendide Royal Rome I was greeted very well by the doorman and the check in was very friendly and a breeze. The Location is good in terms of the area, it is a back street in the Via Veneto area so Cabs aren't to be found outside the hotel. While everything is easy to get to, when you are paying this much money, you expect to be in the middle of the action in Rome?
There are around 40 hotel rooms in total and the sizes are very good. We reserved a triple room which was organized very well, the decor is a little dated, but the room was very comfortable. There is a standard 17-19 inch LCD television, 2 telephones, a walk-in closet and a safe in the room. The bathroom is spacious with 2 sinks and nice toiletries. The room lacked tea/coffee facilities and the mini bar is rather expensive.
We had breakfast included in our room rate and took this at the superb rooftop Mirabelle Restaurant. The view from here over Rome and the Vatican is breathtaking on a sunny day. The prices at the restaurant were a little expensive and perhaps we would have skipped it if it wasn't included in our package. The staff are very friendly and accommodating, and gave us loads of information about where to pick up the Rome tour buses and even organized cabs for us. They also provided complimentary umbrellas when we needed. The Hotel Splendide Royal Rome was nice, the stay comfortable and the service excellent but I was expecting it to be better located and wow me more for the money.

My husband and I were in Rome from this past October 2008. I like to read the Rome hotel reviews before we decide. We had originally booked a hotel by the Spanish Steps but changed our minds a few weeks before due to some very negative hotel reviews. After reading about several other Rome hotels we changed to the Splendide Royal and am very thankful that we did. If we knew about it we would have chosen this hotel to begin with. We have traveled extensively through Rome and Italy and cannot give this hotel high enough marks. From the gracious welcome, to our beautiful room with a balcony overlooking Rome, the welcoming chocolates and note, to the superb service, this hotel is a real treat. The staff are warm and very generous with their time and a real wealth of knowledge about Rome and its attractions.
The location is superb, easy walking distance to almost all of the great historic sites of Rome, we also discovered that the city tour bus stops just around the corner and is an easy hop on/off bus with the ticket valid for 2 days. We took this tour bus on a full circuit to first get our bearings. (Get the earphones for an excellent guide to each Rome tourist site and keep the earphones handy for you next trip on the bus.) The bus will take you to every Rome site that you would want to see, we also used it as an alternative to Rome public transport, taking the bus down to a central point and walked to the Rome historical sites.
Our hotel room was lovely with plenty of closet space and a very large bath with Jacuzzi. At the end of our stay in Rome we rented a car from the Hertz branch at the Borghese gardens location (walking distance from the hotel) and from there it was an easy exit from the city.
Bottom line - wonderful hotel, fantastic staff; quiet convenient location, spacious room, sophisticated and understated elegance.
Note: Be sure to continue checking/reading Rome hotel reviews even after you have made a reservation. Things change and something must have happened to our original hotel to cause several negative reviews in a row. (Worked out great for us!)
Liked Spacious room, balcony with sweeping view of Rome, great staff
Disliked nothing

Review of the Hotel Splendide Royal Rome Italy: “The first night we arrived, they left a box of candy and a hand written welcome note!”
-- Hotel Splendide Royal Rome Italy--
We stayed at the Hotel Splendide Royal Rome Italy for the last few days of a two week vacation in Italy. The location is excellent, a block or so from Via Veneto. The lobby and sitting room are gorgeous with beautiful immaculate furniture and the front desk staff helped us with anything we needed - recommendations for restaurants or Rome tourist attractions, directions, advice etc. Our room was enormous and beautifully furnished. The first night we arrived, they left a box of candy and a hand written welcome note! One evening, we started out walking to a local restaurant when after a minute or two it started to rain, we ran back to the hotel and the doorman was waiting for us with open umbrellas. The hotel loaned us umbrellas for several days when rain was a possibility. We would definitely stay at the Hotel Splendide Royal Rome Italy again.
We stayed at the Hotel Splendide Royal Rome Italy for 4 nights at the end of Oct 2007. Our long flight arrived in Rome Fiumicino airport at 6:30 a.m. and we arrived at the hotel at about 8:30a.m. We were promptly given our room which had been upgraded to a deluxe room. It was very large for a hotel room in a major city like Rome and very nicely decorated. There was a hallway outside of the bedroom with two large wardrobes, and the bathroom was also very big, consisting of two separate rooms, one with a very large tub. The staff was very attentive and considerate.
We enjoyed the breakfast and the beautiful views of Rome from the breakfast room. We also enjoyed the hand location of the hotel; just off the Via Veneto; near the best hotels in Rome without paying their prices. The Hotel is on a quiet street that is near to the large and beautiful Borghese Gardens. It was enjoyable walking to the park and relaxing on a bench and watching the Romans.
I found the Hotel Splendide Royal Rome to be well priced for a 5 star Rome hotel.

We spent an outstanding romantic week in Rome in October 2008, staying in the excellent Hotel Splendide Royal Rome. We are happy to recommend this marvelous place to anyone who cares about elegance, comfort, beauty and glamour. This is the right place to enjoy the scent and taste of all Rome has to offer, especially if you are couple in love. Our hotel room was beautiful and well-equipped, and the bed very comfortable. The bathroom well above average. The staff is friendly and very professional. The Hotel does not offer its own garage but our car was gently stored not far away and was picked-up by the staff any time we wished. Additional service like cleaning the car was done in a perfect way. Every morning we spent an hour having a good breakfast on the sixth floor, with unforgettable views of Rome. The quality of the meal was perfect, although - with a week-long stay - a little monotonous. The Hotel is well located only a hundred meters to via Veneto, a few steps from Villa Borghese gardens and five minutes walk to Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain. On our next stay in Rome we will be back at the Hotel Splendide Royal Rome!

Just off the via Veneto, not far from the heart of the city lies a jewel of a boutique hotel, the Hotel Splendide Royal Rome. I was greeted warmly when I arrived, and escorted to a lovely junior suite The decoration was tasteful from the carpeting to the artwork adorning the walls. There was a well-stocked mini bar and numerous amenities one would expect from a first class hotel. I took my time relaxing in the large Jacuzzi bath before exploring the city. The staff were gracious and informative. The hotel's Michelin-rated Mirabelle restaurant is a gourmet's delight - exceptional service and exquisite cuisine. I felt pampered and indulged throughout my stay at the Hotel Splendide Royal Rome and would heartily recommend it to others.

Review of Hotel Splendide Royal Rome Italy: “We spent six wonderful nights at the Hotel Splendide Royal Rome...”
-- Splendide Royal Hotel Rome Italy --
We spent six wonderful nights at the Hotel Splendide Royal Rome on the tail end of an Italy Tour. We were treated like royalty, and the staff went out of their way to accommodate us in every respect, including cooking a special meal after hours meal for at the gorgeous Mirabelle restaurant (from which there is a incredible view of Rome). Breakfast was in the beautiful Limonaia Room, actually an open terrace in summer, and was delicious and elegant. It included wonderful cheeses, assorted brioche and Roman cafe latte served hot in a glass.
The hotel is beautifully decorated in Baroque style with heavy draperies, tassels and marble baths. Towels were changed twice daily, and each night our bed was turned down and we were left us candies and the weather report for the next day.
The hotel is perfectly located near the Borghese Gardens, Spanish Steps, Via Veneto, Piazza Barberini, and Fontana di Trevi, all within walking distance. It is also in a quiet relaxing area, good for sleeping. Our room was in the rear of the hotel and was nice and quiet for sleeping.
Bear in mind Rome is hilly and this hotel is on a steep hill. We weren't able to find the public transportation that went close to the Splendide, so it was walk or take a taxi. Travelers should also know that irons in hotel rooms are not permitted in Italy, but laundry service is available at a charge and is also very quick. There is also a Mail Boxes UPS service right up the street, with very friendly personnel, for mailing packages home.
We highly recommend the Hotel Splendide Royal Rome!

Stayed for 2 nights at the Hotel Splendide Royal Rome. Our room was beyond quite and nice and dark at night. The concierge went out of his way to be helpful. They have a Michelin 1 star restaurant on the top level, which was excellent. Try the bar on the balcony for a cocktail at sunset - one of the best views in Rome. The hotel is only a few blocks from shopping on the Via Veneto and also from the Spanish Steps, however, it is on a much quieter street. The breakfast buffet included in our room rate was complete and good. We would definitely return to the Hotel Splendide Royal Rome.

I. My wife and I visited Rome as part on my 40th birthday celebration. We spent two nights at the Hotel Splendide Royal Rome (Room 201) and really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is a short taxi ride from the main train station (Roma Termini)and is located in a quiet part of Rome directly across from the Borghese Gardens. The hotel also houses the Michelin starred restaurant Mirabelle (located on the rooftop terrace with inside and outside terrace seating).
The hotel room was a very good size, spacious with a clean bathroom, and a courtyard view. The room was very quiet and we slept very well (during both the day - jet lag - and during the evening). Strangely enough the bed was uncomfortable - as if the mattress had been replaced by a box spring (not a biggie - just strange for the quality of the hotel). The dining room was very nice and bright and the food was tasty and well presented. Try to avoid a table in the center of the restaurant (close to the buffet) the floor is unstable around the buffet so when someone walks towards the buffet people seated in the center of the room have to hold onto their coffee cups and juice glasses (we were able to have a really good laugh about our shaky table & how much coffee spilled during our meal). We didn't eat at Mirabelle, but we did have drinks there: pricey - as are all drink prices in sit down restaurants in Rome, but well worth experiencing the view. My wife and I would definitely recommend staying at the Hotel Splendide Royal Rome.

Review of Hotel Splendide Royal Rome Italy: “Whatever I did to deserve it the room was amazing!!”
-- Splendide Royal Hotel Rome Italy--
Upon check in I got an upgrade to a huge deluxe room. Whatever I did to deserve it the room was amazing! Huge, by any standards, but especially Rome hotel standards, plus it had a view of the Borghese Gardens. I've stayed at the Hotel Eden in Rome before and this was comparable in every way.
I initially checked in for 3 nights with my boyfriend, but he had to go to Tuscany and I opted to stay in Rome for another 3 nights. The staff was much friendlier to me when my boyfriend was with me, it seemed a bit odd to me. The staff was very accommodating when we needed help or advice and they recommended a great pizza place called San Marco, near the hotel. They also arranged a private car to take me to Fiumicino airport (about 20 euros more than a taxi) very swanky and well worth the money. I'd recommend the Hotel Splendide Royal Rome!
Liked Linen sheets!
Disliked It's a long walk up the hill after you've been walking through Rome all day...

We spent a fabulous romantic weekend at the Splendide Royal Hotel in Rome during September 2007. We booked a shuttle service from Fiumicino airport to the hotel and arrived without hassles. On arrival we discovered we had been upgraded for free to a Deluxe room and our luggage was taken to the room while we checked in at reception with the friendly receptionist (incidentally he remembered my name the next time we saw him - a nice touch).
The room was richly decorated with lovely comfy armchairs and a huge bed. The bathroom had two basins and a superb over bath shower. The hotel exudes quality, and the attention to detail and service from the friendly staff is second to none. For a 5 star Rome hotel, it's not pretentious or overly formal in any way. Breakfast was included in the room price, and this was excellent, especially the venue which is the terrace restaurant on the 6th floor.
To celebrate our engagement, my fiance and I went to the Girrarosto Fiorentino restaurant nearby (as recommended by the hotel), which I would also highly recommended. Wow!! I would recommend the Hotel Splendide Royal Rome to anyone seeking a quality, indulgent weekend in Rome with the one you love.

From Check-in to Checkout the Hotel Splendide Royal Rome was amazing. If you can afford it you should really stay here. The staff are always cordial, professional and they always greet you. I would suggest to book a suite with a terrace if you are there while the weather is pleasant. The views are breathtaking and the rooms are beautifully decorated, spotless, spacious and comfortable. I never wanted to leave.

The Hotel Splendide Royal Rome is a wonderful place which should not disappoint. It has beautiful extravagant decor and friendly helpful staff. It's well maintained exceptionally clean and with the perfect location in Rome - an easy walk to the Spanish steps. There are many local Rome restaurants around to choose from. Breakfast was perfect with a wonderful variety and presentation. One tip is to confirm the price of taxi to and from Fiumicino airport before starting journey, there is a set price of 40, which was never adhered to with us.
