Where do you recommend we should go for our Rome and Italy honeymoon?

"There are several packages that we can purchase at discounted rates from various locations. Which would you recommend/prefer?
Rome Italy, Florence, Venice, Sorrento

These are the hotels in each city that we will would be staying at:
Rome: Hotel Milani
Florence: Hotel Byron, Hotel Basilea, or Hotel Pendini
Venice: Hotel Di Bruno
Sorrento: Hotel Gardenia or Hotel Villa Aria

Which do you recommend for our honeymoon and why?"

Marcus from Roman Life Rome Italy says:

I would suggest either Florence or Rome.
I love Florence - and I'm actually from Rome!
Florence is small enough to be able to do what you want without the hassle that comes with other big cities in Italy, but also big enough to have the variety of all the others.
I keep hearing mediocre reports about Venice (plus I found the people a little strange with tourists.)

Rome, of course is vibrant, exciting, it has sooo much! I mean lots to see and do! Plus, it is very romantic walking around Rome at night and safe!
The Romans are very keen to socialise - it's the Roman way, and the center is well policed - my wife and I walk through the center and eat at restaurants most weekends and always feel very safe for such a big city.

Anyway you have a good time, whatever you decide.

Dee (Italylover) says:

Its your honeymoon, I think Venice is the best place to be, especially for this special time, its more romantic and beautiful. If i were you I would go to Venice!

Just one thing, you have a very good package for your honeymoon, the only thing that I would sudgest is to stay in a bed and breakfast, you only need a bed and bath why pay for an expensive hotel room, the money you can save will be better to spend here on your trip take my advice I live here.

Dianne asks: Reasonably priced hotels in Florence and Rome for honeymoon trip? Do I need a double or single room?

I'm currently planning a honeymoon for the end of October beginning of November in Florence and Rome. If anyone has any advice, ideas or anything I would really appreciate it, thanks!

Flor says:

Firstly congratulations on your upcoming wedding!

You will need a double room, a single room means for one person, double for two. Remember to specify a "matrimoniale" which is a room with a double bed versus a "twin" - a room with two single beds.

Warning: most "matrimoniale" beds are really two twin beds pushed together and made up as one. This creates an unfortunate crack in the middle of the bed that my husband and I like to refer to as the "grand canyon." Not great for snuggling. I suggest you request a French bed "letto francese" to get a regular American/English double.

For reasonably priced hotels, it depends on what you think is reasonable. Luckily you will be traveling towards the end of the season so you won't be paying the high season prices, but remember that the Euro is strong against the dollar and Florence and Rome are expensive cities. I'm sure you can get anything for much less than 100 euro/night in Florence and 130 in Rome for an average hotel. I could start listing hotels in Rome for you but without more info about what you want, it would end up being a very long and maybe not so useful list.

All the best with your budget and have a great honeymoon (I've helped lots of people plan their honeymoon in Italy).

Marcus from Roman life Rome Italy adds:
My 2 cents worth - Of course there's no harm in trying the HotelsCombined search engine - see my central Rome hotels page for advice on using hotelscombined, and for excellent tips and advice on what to check with your hotel see hotels in central rome.
