Ciampino Airport to Rome center or to Fiumicino Airport.

Paul asked: In about two and a half weeks I fly into Ciampino Airport Rome and I was wondering what my transport options are to get to Rome city center from Ciampino airport, and what the costs are? Also, do you know of any Ciampino Rome hotels...

Marcus from Roman life Rome Italy says: There are not many Ciampino Rome Hotels, and I don't recommend the area. As far as transportation from Ciampino you basically have 4 options:

1. You can take the Atral bus (run by Cotral) from Ciampino Airport to the Anagnina Metro stop (the last stop of the line A Metro) the cost is €1,20 and luggage is an additional €1,20. Tickets can be bought on the bus or inside Ciampino arrivals. Services run between 6Am and 10:40Pm (every 40 minutes) during weekdays and between 7:20Am and 10:40Pm on weekends. (The Cotral bus is not a direct connection with Termini as it first passes through Ciampino village.)
From Anagnina you can take the Rome Metro to whichever stop is closest to your hotel. Remember that depending on where your hotel is located you may need to change to Metro line B at Termini (where the 2 Metro lines cross).

2. You can take the Atral bus from Ciampino Airport direct to Termini station. Tickets can be bought on the bus for 6,50 € or for 4,50€ from their offices at arrivals. Services run between 10:30Am and 12:15 Pm (once every 2 hours) weekdays only.

3. The Terravision Shuttle ( will take you from Ciampino Airport direct to Termini Station for 6 € per person. Services operate between 8:30Am and 8:30Pm. This is usually the option that most tourists take because a) Terravision synchronize their departure times with the arrivals of the flights and b) Termini station is the hub for most of Rome's public transportation - Metro, buses, tourist buses and train.

4. The Rome Taxis have a fixed rate of 30 Euros, including luggage, from Ciampino Airport to anywhere within the city walls (city center). This is not a bad option if you are tired and have a lot of luggage, as you may not want to start struggling with public transport after an overseas flight.

Floss says: There are no trains from Ciampino Airport to Termini Station, many people confuse the train that operates between Fiumicino and Termini. Your best bet is with the shuttle buses that operate between Ciampino and Termini station.

If you really want to save a few cents you can take a local bus to the Ciampino station in Ciampino residential area and from there you can take a train to Termini Station. But honestly you may save a couple of cents but will lose more in time!

Ricardo asks: How do I get from Ciampino airport Rome to Fiumicino airport. I have 4 hours?

Marcus from Roman LIfe Rome Italy says:

There is the Atral bus (run by Cotral) that runs from Ciampino Airport to Fiumicino Airport however this service is only available during weekdays and between the hours of 11Am to 3:30Pm. Price is €5.
From Fiumicino Airport to Ciampino Airport the service is also only available during weekdays and between the hours of noon and 4:30Pm. Price is 5.

Outside of these periods there is no direct connection via public transport between the two Airports in Rome. The only direct connection is with Taxi from Ciampino Airport.

I have never had to do the trip before but from what I have heard the taxi fare could set you back anywhere in the vicinity of 50 Euros. Unfortunately there is no fixed fare (like there is with Ciampino, Fiumicino Airport and Rome city center) so you are at the mercy of the taxi drivers.

If you don't mind an additional 40 minutes onto the journey then you can save yourself at least 30 Euros like this:

Take a private shuttle bus from Ciampino to Termini Station. Cost is between 6 and 8 Euros, and travel time is about 35-40 minutes. At Termini station take the Leonardo Express train (11 Euros, travel time 30 minutes, direct connection) to Fiumicino Airport. Both legs are quick and hassle free. Voilá!

Motherearth asks: How do I get from Ciampino Airport Rome to my hotel, the Condotti Hotel Rome Italy?

I am going to Rome in a month, and I'm not sure how I get to my hotel. I am flying into the Ciampino Airport. How do I get to my hotel which is called the Condotti Hotel?

Marcus from Roman Life Rome Italy says: Walking into the arrival hall of Ciampino airport you will be greeted by a mass of private shuttle bus companies. Remember to use a company that goes to Termini Station and Not to Anagnina.
Terravision are usually a reliable option and charge 8 Euros to Termini Station, the journey will take from 30 minutes up depending on traffic.

At Termini station make your way to the Termini Metro which is right next to the bus and train station (there is a tourist information office at Termini with English speaking personnel if you need help). Take Rome Metro line A (Battistini) for 3 stops and exit at "Spagna", which stands for Piazza di Spagna or the Spanish Steps.

Exit the station and then either take a taxi for the remaining 400m to Via Mario dè Fiori no. 37 (the street address of Condotti Hotel) or alternatively by foot...

From the Piazza Trinità dei Monti (the square by your stop and also above the Spanish Steps) walk down the Spanish Steps and continue straight down Via dei Condotti, then take the first left into Via Mario dè Fiori and Hotel Condotti is immediately on the right.via veneto smiley
