Art Hotel Rome Italy

Description: The Art Hotel Rome, is a newly refurbished hotel located in the historical Center, and only a few steps from the Spanish Steps. It is located on Via Margutta, a Roman quarter known for its antiques and art galleries.

Many contemporary works of art decorate the former Catholic college in a blend of old meets modern. The hotel houses 46 bright light colorful arty very modern individually color schemed rooms! They successfully blend wall facings of glass and resin, wall tiles of glass metal and mosaic and hi-tech furnishings of wood and leather. Rooms are equipped with mod-cons like a cordless keyboard for web surfing and satellite television.

Guests will enjoy strolling/jogging in the nearby Villa Borghese gardens or make use of the small gym equipped with sauna, and Turkish bath.

RomanLife 2 cents: It would be an understatement to say the Art Hotel Rome offers unique accommodation in Rome. Staying in the hotel's funky stylish rich relaxing ambient is a whole Rome experience of its own. A big plus is the location and proximity of Rome's major historical sites.
However, if you'd prefer a more traditional Roman hotel then perhaps the hotel Art is not for you.

I stayed at the Art Hotel Rome a couple nights before and after a cruise. Both times I was lucky enough to get a hotel room on the green floor (easier on the eyes than the yellow or orange floors), however my room was not ready until about 15-20 minutes after the check-in time. I was traveling with a girlfriend whose room was ready (both times) prior to check-in time?!

The rooms are a great size for a Roman hotel. While the lighting is a little diffused (several small lighting fixtures rather than one bright overhead) the bathroom is well lit, and includes a hair dryer. The hotel has hardwood floors so perhaps noisier than a hotel with carpeting, however, the only noise problem was people out late in the courtyard smoking and laughing.

The room temperature is controlled by the Hotel but you can have the temperature adjusted (I had mine lowers to 23 C). The staff is very helpful and friendly. When you check in they hand you a map of Rome and circle the hotel. They can recommend good local Roman restaurants, and give tips for directions or taking a taxi. They can also recommend some walking trips and tours of Rome.

It's a good idea to include breakfast in your rate - a very good buffet spread: many different fruits, cereals, toast, muffins and Danish, several juices, bacon, eggs, sausage, salamis, cheeses, yogurts, coffee, espresso, etc.
The Art Hotel is located near the Spanish Steps but off a side street so nice and quiet considering its in the busy historical center of Rome.

Hotel Art Rome Italy

The hotel worked out great for our family. Our Art hotel reservation was for a Quad room with a king and a double bed, each in its own separate room - separated by a sliding door for privacy. The bathroom has a double sink and in generally there is more room than your typical Rome hotel. The room was very clean with hardwood parquet floors and windows that open help to make you feel more at home.

The hotel staff were very helpful, ordering taxis and suggesting local Roman restaurants. There was a lovely bowl of fruit and a bottle of Champagne on our arrival. Our reservation included a delicious buffet breakfast that was the best we had during our Italian trip. A nice variety of pastries, meats and cheeses, as well as eggs, bacon and sausages.

The hotel atmosphere is definitely different, very contemporary and made for an interesting stay - my kids loved the colorful floors. Why travel and stay somewhere boring? The location is Rome historical area is fantastic: a block and a half away from the Roma subway and the Spanish Steps. Very close to all the Rome shopping you could ever want, and many restaurants as well. Almost all the big Rome attractions are walkable or easily accessed by Metro, bus or Taxi. The Via Margutta was quiet and lined with many art galleries. We spent a couple of hours enjoying the local art scene by walking up and down the street.

If pushed to complain, it would only be the price, we dropped over $900US per night but if you can swing the cash you will not be disappointed.

We stayed at the Art Hotel in May 2008. Our Art hotel reservation was for one double bedroom at 320.00 Euros (approx 410.00 US$) and one single bedroom at 200.00 Euros (approx. 255 US$) for one night. The location is ideal: in the historical center of Rome. Via Margutta is a very quiet street close to Piazza di Spagna and at reasonable walking distance from almost all the tourist attractions one wishes to see while in Rome. We had also reserved a private shuttle transfer from Fiumicino Airport for peace of mind.

Welcome at reception was just polite, not offish but not too friendly. The double bedroom was an average size, the bathroom average size also with a large bath tub and shower. The single bedroom was very small with little space around the bed. The furniture was worn out and there were black marks on the floors and walls. The hallway, lounge and breakfast area are not that spacious. we found the Prices very high and felt the hotel is definitely not in the category in which it sells itself.

I stayed at Hotel Art for a few nights in mid-May 2008. Located on Via Margutta, a quaint, quiet street close to the Spanish Steps. You may have seen the Art hotel in an episode of Passport to Europe with Samantha Brown. This was my 2nd time in Roma, the first time I stayed at a hotel on Via Cavour - closer to the Roman Forum and Colosseo, but I prefer the Hotel Art location.

Each floor of the hotel has a different color scheme, I stayed on the 2nd floor, the entire hallway illuminates in green. The rooms are a comfortable size (as far as rooms go in Italy and Europe). The air conditioning worked fine however it blew right on my head. The window opened onto the courtyard and it was nice to be able to get fresh air. The bathroom was clean with funky green tiles and a cool shower wand. Linen and towels were very clean and neatly pressed. The room has hardwood flooring - no carpeting - a plus for me, you don't have to worry about dirt, dust mites, stains, etc. The room had a safe that fit my laptop. The Wi-Fi was $10 for 8 hours but the connection was terrible, it kept disconnecting.

The breakfast buffet was great: meats, cheeses, Danish, breads, fresh fruit, cereal, yogurt, bacon/sausage and eggs. My morning cappuccino and espresso were very good too. The staff were pleasant and helpful. I would definitely consider staying at the Art hotel Rome again. Perhaps the coins I tossed in Trevi Fountain will make it happen.

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Art Rome near the Spanish Steps for 5 nights on our honeymoon. Excellent location! The hotel is in a quiet alley (pretty, not creepy) only a 2 minute stroll from the Spanish Steps. The hotel is very quiet and comfy despite being in the chaotic historical center of Rome.

The hotel room was beautiful and big and the bed was very comfortable. It was over 100 F degrees almost every day that we were in Rome Italy, but you wouldn't have known it in the hotel room, the a/c was great. The breakfast was wonderful (not common for Italian hotels) lots of fresh fruit, cheese, meats, juices, pastries etc. The staff was wonderful and the front desk crew was amazing - always giving little tips and pointers about Rome: where to eat or grab a drink - very, very helpful. We loved this hotel and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a great place to stay while in Rome. We love the Art hotel Rome and will probably stay there every time we go back to Rome!

Hotel Art Rome

The Hotel Art may be one of the most beautiful hotel you ever stay in. The Hotel Art is in the historical heart of Rome and right next door to the Spanish steps and only stoneís throw away from the Trevi Fountain, one of Rome's main attractions. You would expect it to be very noisy being next door to a main attraction of Rome but the hotel is very peaceful at all times.

The floors are bright and the walls are lit up and display great art (hence the name of the hotel). The food was is excellent, including breakfast, which is always fresh and prepared at your order. Dinner is excellent with many menu's including Italian, Western and Asian. When you enter the Art hotel you feel as if you have walked into an art museum or gallery. Nothing at the hotel is old everything is modern. Enjoy your experience at the Art Hotel Rome.

We just got back from our our honeymoon in Italy. The first leg of our journey was Rome where we stayed at the Hotel Art. They automatically upgraded our hotel room before we even arrived, the entire stay was terrific. The front desk staff go above and beyond and are always available to provide directions or restaurant suggestions. Breakfast was perfect, and hit the spot every morning before heading out to see the beautiful attractions of Rome. The hotel is in a very quiet side street and you never hear the traffic outside. The decor of the hotel is unique, not what you would expect for a hotel in Rome, but we loved it. I would highly recommend the Art Hotel Rome, and would definitely stay there again in our future trips to Rome.

Review of Art Hotel Rome Italy: private while still incredibly close to the major touristic sites of Rome...

-- Art Spanish Steps Hotel Rome Italy --

I absolutely loved the Art hotel Rome. On our third trip to Rome we were unable to book our favorite, The Hotel delle Nazioni, but the disappointment was short-lived once we arrived at this hotel. Ultra modern with intense decor (that you will either love or hate), it is best to request upon booking that you would prefer to be on the soothing 'green floor' or the passionate 'orange floor' or tranquil 'blue floor' - you decide

The hotel is in a quiet cobbled street only a block away from the Spanish Steps. It's lovely and private while still incredibly close to the major touristic sites of Rome. The included breakfast was the typical continental fare, breads, yogurts and cereals and not too much else, however we did feel that we received value for money considering our seven year old stayed free with us. The only thing that could use a little improvement was the friendliness of the staff, although I can't say anyone was impolite, it's just a feeling of being nice enough and no more. The rooms themselves are not huge but certainly comfortable and not poky compared to European and Italian standard. If you are used to spacious American hotels you may feel a little cramped.

The hotel is so conveniently located, it's easy to stay out late and simply stroll back in the evenings. They also have a lovely outdoor garden sitting area and although we were far to busy exploring Rome, it looked very relaxing.

Hotel Art Rome Italy Center

We stayed at The Art Hotel Rome for 6 nights in June 2007 and were sorry to leave. extremely accommodating staff who couldn't do enough for us. This little gem of a hotel is close to the Spanish Steps, but in a quiet little side street. The hotel which was originally a church still has the original architecture in place . The rooms are on the small side, but very easy to store large suitcases. The air conditioning worked well.

Our stay at hotel art included a full breakfast which was very good. The staff even gave us a take away breakfast to take on our day trip to Capri. Our children joined us for the last two days at the hotel and the staff kept a look out for their arrival. The hotel rooms were very clean and so were the bathrooms. All summed up the Art Hotel Rome gave us a great start to our 2 week Italian journey.

I stayed in the Art Hotel Rome in April 2007. An amazingly Modern Hotel in the amazingly Historical City of Rome. I had booked the Empire Palace Hotel and on arrival was told they were double booked and that we could stay in their "sister Hotel" the Hotel Art. We were amazed by the decor, it was as if the Hotel was in the wrong City. The Hotel is nicely decorated throughout which has a very calming effect when returning from the hustle and bustle that is Rome.

We stayed on the luminous Yellow floor and our Bathroom was Large and well decorated. Apart from the computer everything else was working in the hotel room. Breakfast was good and the coffee was as you can expect in Italy, delicious. The Location is right beside the Spanish steps and Via Condotti and an ideal location for discovering Rome. I have been to Rome three times before, and when I return I may prefer a Hotel that fits in with its environment.

We stayed at the Art Hotel Rome and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel is ideally located near the Spanish Steps which means you are in the heart of Rome. There are plenty of restaurants and shopping areas, and people on and around the Spanish Steps - a fun and lively area. The hotel itself is in a peaceful little side street - you can escape from the noise but the Rome attractions are close by. The Piazza di Spagna Metro station is very close so you can get to the Vatican City or any Rome historical place you'd like.

The Art Hotel has a very unique, artistic decor, probably either a love it or hate it style. All the floors are color coded, and it was fun to see the floors and walls light up as I walked through the hallway. The rooms were average size, but fine by European Italian standards., very comfortable and the furnishings were neat and comfortable but not over-the-top (like the rest of the hotel).

They serve an excellent breakfast in the morning. and because it isn't a 'big' hotel you can relax at breakfast without feeling like you should leave. I found the staff very helpful about finding information for us and give us maps. Overall, the Art hotel Rome is a fantastic hotel that I would recommend.

We have just returned from a long weekend at the Art Hotel in Rome The staff were friendly and helped to book guided tours of Rome for both the Vatican and Forum area. The location is perfect to see Rome. We reserved a suite although it was really two small rooms connected by a sliding door - not a suite in the accepted definition.

We encountered only two problems during our stay - the noise (sound proofing was clearly inadequate) and we could hear the people in the room next door. Our hotel room also looked onto the internal courtyard, and the noise generated by people from the outside seating area was excessive.

Given the cost of the hotel suite, we expected more in terms of creature comforts but were disappointed. In summary, the Art Hotel Rome is a great looking hotel but lacks attention to building detail from the perspective of the average guest. We would not stay at the Hotel Art again.

-- Art Spanish Steps Hotel Rome Italy --

We stayed at the Art hotel Rome beginning march 2009. We were impressed by decor of the hotel, everything seemed designer to perfection. Itís perfectly situated in an artist gallery street of Rome, the Via Margutta, but only a few steps away from the Spanish steps and all the main Rome shopping streets. The hotel room was not big but was large enough with well kept, comfortable beds and a perfect shower. Breakfast was a treat and as it is a small hotel (about 47 rooms or so) itís not crowded so can enjoy your breakfast with a nice cup of cappuccino in peace and quiet.

The people working at the Art hotel were all very friendly and helpful. We dined at the "ristorante alla Rampa" near the Spanish steps and can recommend it to all. Next time in Rome we will definitely come back to the Art Hotel Rome.

-- Art Spanish Steps Hotel Rome Italy --

We stayed at the Art Hotel Rome for three nights and simply loved it. The location in central Rome is excellent, close to good local Roman restaurants, the Spanish steps, and big brand Italian shopping like only the Romans can do. The hotel Art is housed in an old religious school but the furnishings are modern Italian furniture with flat-screen TVs, beautiful bathroom fixtures, etc. It was very refreshing returning to the hotel after a long day walking around Rome - just sit back and relax in a comfortable, clean hotel room. All the staff were always friendly and very helpful and we really felt right at home here. Don't pass up the chance to stay at the Art Hotel Rome.
